Dynamical systems on infinitely sheeted Riemann surfaces

چکیده
This paper is part of a program that aims to understand the connection between the emergence of chaotic behaviour in dynamical systems in relation with the multi-valuedness of the solutions as functions of complex time τ . In this work we consider a family of systems whose solutions can be expressed as the inversion of a single hyperelliptic integral. The associated Riemann surface R → C = {τ} is known to be an infinitely sheeted covering of the complex time plane, ramified at an infinite set of points whose projection in the τ -plane is dense. The main novelty of this paper is that the geometrical structure of these infinitely sheeted Riemann surfaces is described in great detail, which allows to study global properties of the flow such as asymptotic behaviour of the solutions, periodic orbits and their stability or sensitive dependence on initial conditions. The results are then compared with a numerical integration of the equations of motion. Following the recent approach of Calogero, the real time trajectories of the system are given by paths on R that are projected to a circle on the complex plane τ . Due to the branching of R, the solutions may have different periods or may not be periodic at all.

Computation of conformal representations of compact Riemann surfaces
We find a system of two polynomial equations in two unknowns, whose solution allows us to give an explicit expression of the conformal representation of a simply connected three-sheeted compact Riemann surface onto the extended complex plane. This function appears in the description of the ratio asymptotic of multiple orthogonal polynomials with respect to so-called Nikishin systems of two meas...

Preface Why we called the class of two-dimensional Shimura varieties, which are not Hilbert modular, "Picard modular surfaces" ? In the mean time the name has been generally accepted, see e.g. Langlands (and others) L-R]. On the one hand Picard worked on special Fuchsian systems of diierential equations; on the other hand Shimura Shi] introduced and investigated moduli spaces of abelian varieti...

we develop a theory of holomorphic differentials on a certain class of non-compact Riemann surfaces obtained by opening infinitely many nodes.

It is very common in mathematics to construct surfaces by identifying the sides of a polygon together in pairs: For example, identifying opposite sides of a square yields a torus. In this article the construction is considered in the case where infinitely many pairs of segments around the boundary of the polygon are identified. The topological, metric, and complex structures of the resulting su...
متن کاملAn Isometry Theorem for Quadratic Differentials on Riemann Surfaces of Finite Genus
Assume both X and Y are Riemann surfaces which are subsets of compact Riemann surfaces X1 and Y1, respectively, and that the set X1 −X has infinitely many points. We show that the only surjective complex linear isometries between the spaces of integrable holomorphic quadratic differentials on X and Y are the ones induced by conformal homeomorphisms and complex constants of modulus 1. It follows...
